Meet Matthew Royster
Matthew Royster received his Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa. He was licensed by the State of Iowa in Mental Health Counseling in 2006. Matthew received his Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Campbell University and earned an Honorary Associate’s Degree from St. Anne’s of Oxford University, England. Matthew is a clinical member of ATSA and a certified Sexual Offender Treatment Provider in the State of Iowa. He is trained in EMDR and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Matthew’s primary focus of treatment is with male children. He and Eden are the contracted clinicians at Midwest Christian Services, a 26-bed residential treatment facility for children. Matthew has over 20 years of experience working with adults and children in the following areas: problematic sexual behavior, ADHD, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and behavioral issues. Matthew also incorporates animal-assisted therapy as a treatment intervention with his dog Rosey.
Matthew and Valorie have 7 children. Matthew is transparent about his triangle of priorities: faith, family, and sobriety. Matthew enjoys competing in local triathlons, gardening, learning Spanish, and astronomy. He coaches several youth sports in the community including basketball, baseball, and soccer. Matthew is currently the head coach of the Cherokee Swim Team.
