Valorie Royster received her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. She furthered her education through counseling coursework at Capella University and has been licensed in Mental Health Counseling in the State of Iowa since 2009.

Valorie has been providing mental health counseling with Royster & Royster, PLLC since 2011. She works with individuals across the lifespan, from childhood through late adulthood, and brings over 15 years of experience supporting clients through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.

Valorie is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and has a strong clinical interest in trauma-informed care. She enjoys working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, somatic concerns, and issues related to adoption and foster care.

As a co-founder of Royster & Royster, PLLC alongside her husband, Matthew, Valorie brings both professional expertise and personal insight into her work. She is a parent of four adopted children and a step-parent to three, which informs her compassionate and grounded approach to therapy.

Valorie is passionate about health and wellness and incorporates a holistic perspective into her counseling practice, supporting clients in achieving both emotional and overall well-being.

Valorie Royster received her Master of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.  She furthered her education at Capella University, completing courses for counseling.  Valorie was licensed in Mental Health Counseling by the State of Iowa in 2009. 

Valorie has provided mental health counseling with Royster & Royster, PLLC since 2011.  She works with individuals from childhood to late-stage adulthood.   She sought specialized training in Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to become certified in this modality.  She enjoys working with a variety of mental health issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, somatic issues, adoption, and foster care.

Valorie is married to Matthew and together they founded Royster & Royster, PLLC.  Valorie is a parent of 4 adopted children and step-parent to 3 children.   She has a passion for health and wellness and incorporates that into her counseling practice.
